Indigenous People's Day

Indigenous Peoples’ Day honors and celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of Native peoples across the Americas. It was created as an alternative to Columbus Day to recognize the harm caused by colonization and to uplift Indigenous resilience and ongoing presence. The day is important because it promotes awareness, respect, and justice for Indigenous communities while challenging inaccurate historical narratives.

Christmas Pow-Wow

Our Community Christmas Pow Wow is a vibrant intersection of Indigenous culture and Christian community celebration during the holiday season. This annual gathering brings together people of all backgrounds to share in the spirit of joy, gratitude, and unity.

Through traditional songs, drumming, and dance, the event honors Native heritage while celebrating the season of giving and togetherness. It serves as a reminder of the deep connections between faith, culture, and community—creating a space where traditions are celebrated, stories are shared, and the warmth of fellowship is extended to all.

Community Philanthropy

Members of the Native American United Methodist Church came together to support students at Sherman Indian High School by gathering and delivering donations for their campus. Acts of giving like this reflect our church’s ongoing commitment to service, compassion, and community partnership. Each contribution—big or small—helps nurture connection and uplift the next generation of Native youth.
